QUICK FCD RECAP

Monday, September 15th, 2008

FC DENVER WAS UNDEFEATED THIS WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!!

Masters won 2-1, Josh found the net from a nice little serve from Yagha and their new big guy Kevin drilled a header home on a free kick that was served up by Matt (or Geoff).

White team wins, 5-3. The Ninja Assassin gets his revenge!!!!!!!
Goals: Max (2), Roy (2), Alex; Assists: Roy, Phil (2), Todd
A dominent performance by the White midfield. Max gave their back line hell as the lone striker and Carlos and phil were monsters in the back line, shutting down their forwards for the entire game. None of their goals came from strikers.

Premier team tied, 3-3. Two goals from our captain Raph, and a third goal from Chris. We led twice in the match, but couldn’t hold on to the lead. The offense was really clicking and should have put a way at least 3 more goals. The team is now playing at the highest level and is beginning to realize that they can’t get away with lapses in concentration. The team is definitely progressing though, and should find its first win this coming weekend.

Green team won 4-1, against Guadalajara, pictures and full match report to come.

COULDN’T CATCH A BREAK

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

The Green Team played Irish Rover FC, a medium skilled team, with one or two strong players who had the potential to cause problems. IRFC took a 1-0 lead, off a dodge call from the referee. Team yellow (referees), granted IRFC an indirect free kick, which was called because of a reverse directed clearance from Fabio, which Shane handled. The Green team cleared their lines, but the ball fell to one of their players who made an underpowered shot, that the wind carried into the net. Unfortunate, but that is soccer.

IRFC had only a few chances, but the Green team was easily the better side. Jasper had a great opportunity to level, only for the keeper to make a bumbling save. Chris Keel scored, but was disallowed due to an offside. Dick and Chris were more than a handful for the IRFC defense and were unlucky not to get on the score sheet.

Second half, the Green team controlled the game, with Dick scoring a good goal to level the game. He picked the ball up, after a good pass from Adam, turned the player and struck nicely into the left hand side. We pressed forward, missing a few more opportunities, which should have won us the game by 3 or 4, but the end result was 1 – 1. All in all, the Green team was the better team, but it was not meant to be their winning day. Stephen said that it was a great, committed performance from the players!

Every player played well, especially Antonio in Center midfield, who was lively, and dangerous throughout the game. On the whole, every player scored high marks in the coach’s book, with Antonio being the man of the match.
