We had a terrific experience at the USSSA National Cup in Overland Park, Kansas this past weekend. Here’s the recap of our results:

Friday Night Game #1 vs Performance Sports (KC)
3-0 win. Team was clicking and game was fun.

Saturday Morning Game #2 vs Azteca Mojo’s (DEN)
Tied 0-0. Game was frustrating as we felt we should have been able to win.

Saturday Afternoon Game #3 vs KC Athletics (KC)
Tied 0-0. They came out strong, we found a rhythm as game progressed and neither team wanted to overly-commit with both teams already qualified for the Semi’s the next day.

Semifinal this morning vs Colorado Rovers (DEN)
Lost 1-0. Snowy, windy, and sub-30 degrees. Epic weather for soccer on a clumpy turf field. We played great, winning 60+% of the midfield balls in a game that was essentially a battle for field position. Limited scoring opportunities for either team. They earned a PK on a cross in the box midway through second half and they converted it. We received a questionable red card right after the resulting kickoff about a minute later, and that was the game.

Rovers went on to win the final (on a goal in OT) vs KC Athletics and will play in the US Open Cup later this year. We congratulate Rovers on winning the National Cup for our state and league. We look ahead to defending our Colorado State Cup championship this summer, which serves as qualification for the 2014 USSSA National Cup this Fall.

We are proud of our performance and continue to move forward to create FC Denver.
