Colorado Premier League Gameweek 3 Recap

The third weekend of matches in the Colorado Premier League heated up as the FC Denver teams saw success as well as areas of improvement.

Premier FC Denver vs El Azul

A week out from the first round of qualifying matches in the Lamar US Open Cup, our Premier side needed a victory to enter the tournament on great form. Motivated and eager to earn three points, thirty minutes into the match Premier were on the front foot by netting three goals. Premier player/coach Drew Melin said that they were “able to hold off some (of their) chances and kept finishing.” The match finished 6-1 and we are more than excited to see this team shine at the highest level again in the Open Cup this season. Premier sits 6th in the league with a game in hand. View the table here.

United FC Denver vs AC Legends

United faced a tough clash against AC Legends. This team is always very organized and will make changes throughout any match. United started the match very sloppy, ultimately giving up a penalty in the second half. Later, United reorganized and found an equalizer that helped United come away with a point. The match ended 1-1. View the table here.

Masters FC Denver vs Northern Colorado FC

Going into this game, the Masters squad knew it would be a hard match due to NOCO FC formerly playing in the UPSL last season. Sickness and injury dampened spirits slightly before the start of that match. Playing with only 11 men on the day, Masters stayed organized for the first half and scored two goals on fast counter-attacks. At halftime, the score was 2-2. In the last twenty minutes of the game, NOCO brought on subs are started to dominate the game, scoring 3 well-worked goals. This team will surely be in contention for promotion to the Premier Division. View the table here.

Legends FC Denver vs Rovers Over 30

A common theme for our teams this weekend was starting sloppy in the first half of the game. After shaking off the nerves, Legends scored a well-worked goal in the 35th minute. With 25 minutes left in the second half, we found ourselves a man down due to a red card and ended up conceding a goal. We were not done fighting and eventually earned a penalty with 10 minutes left to go. The penalty was put in beautifully and the game ended 2-1 with an amazing final push. View the table here.

A great weekend of play!
