Let’s take a look at how 2016 is progressing so far:

Spring …. √
We made it to the Spring finals in each of the three divisions we play in (Men’s D1 Open, Men’s O30 D1, Men’s O30 D2)! A major accomplishment and reinforces our status as the top club in Colorado. We also held our memorable 10th Anniversary party where we introduced our new logo and our inaugural board of directors.

Summer …. √
We participated in two tournaments (Boulder & State Cup) and entered two teams in State Cup. All three squads made it to their respective championship games and Masters won their O30 State Championship. The championship game streak continues!

Fall is where we’ve had a majority of our title success with all five of our D1 league championships coming in the autumn, including last years Fall league title. Plenty of work ahead for us to get there, and it all starts this weekend. US Open Cup qualifying is on the horizon this Fall as well, so PLENTY to be HUNGRY for.

We are proud to represent Denver and look forward to another passionate soccer season on the pitch!

It’s Playoff time!

We had three teams in action over the weekend with two of these being playoff matches. Here’s what happened:

CASL Spring Over-30 D1 Championship – FC Denver Masters v CO Rovers O30
In a rematch of last Fall’s O30 Championship match, Masters was hungry to get revenge. Masters won the Club Shield award for the best O30 regular season record from the Fall 2015-Spring 2016 Assocation calendar year signifying our regular season dominance, but this was a one-off game against a Rovers side with what looked liked several new players.

Both sides came out energized and the chances came fast and furious for both teams in the first half. After a scoreless 15-20 minutes, five goals were scored in a 15-20 minute stretch before half.  The score at halftime was 3-2 for Rovers. Masters goals scored by Derek Moore with an unbelieveable 28 yard laser and a Kane Lawson tap in. Rovers scored two from open play and one via PK.

The second half was a different match entirely. A few good chances sprung up for both sides, but the game was largely contested in midfield with both sides showing more defensive consistency. The game ended in the same 3-2 scoreline for Rovers to defend their Fall Championship. It was a great game against two competitive sides and we’ll keep he fire burning towards State Cup and Fall.

E4F6A026-A348-4194-8D5D-3EED05106C72CASL Spring D1 Quarterfinals – FC Denver Premier vs Real CO

This game was a rematch of last Fall’s Semifinal, which went down to the wire. This time though, only one team came to play, and that was FC Denver. Real showed up for this playoff match with 9 guys and after about 15 minutes had a full-side, but their destiny had been set. Premier initially had a frustrating opening 30 minutes with loads of possession but limited penetration. Once the first goal went in (on a Jack Jones effort), the game changed dramatically. Vitor Bravo put a dagger in the game just before halftime with a 18 yard curling from the corner of the box to put Denver up 2-0.

The game was now in control, but FC Denver wanted to improve on their first half performance and came out in the second and did just that. FC Denver got two goals in the second stanza, one from Denny Walton, and another from Mike Marten to end the game with a 4-1 scoreline. Next up: An epic semifinal clash Sunday against Colorado Rovers.

CASL O30 D2 Regular Season Finale – FC Denver Legends v Juggernauts
Juggernauts showed up with 5 players, so they forfeited and we scrimmaged for an hour to stay sharp for the O30 D2 playoffs this upcoming weekend. With the win, Legends ends the season with a 5-0-2 record and top seed heading into Sunday’s semifinal.
