Denver, CO – Semi-pro soccer club FC Denver announced today that it will be adding a U19 Men’s team to its roster of teams effective July 2018. The club is holding player identification sessions & program orientation meeting on July 11th and 12th.

The U19 team will operate as a 19 year old and under Men’s team, focused on developing talented and dynamic high school aged male players. The U19 players will have opportunities to train and compete with FC Denver’s first team, while older first team players will be invited to mentor, train and play with the U19 players. Club General Manager Luke Elbin added, “the addition of a U19 team provides a home for young adult players looking to continue their professional-track development within our club environment. These players will have opportunities to train with and against our top men’s players with an an eye towards promoting players into our top team or onwards onto the collegiate level or other elite playing opportunities.”

With a 13-year track record, the U19 team marks the next evolution in FC Denver’s trajectory. FC Denver’s recent 2018 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup qualification and advancement into the second round and subsequent hard fought 3-2 loss to USL side Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, the club is investing in the future of soccer in Denver’s core player and supporter footprint.

FC Denver has partnered with experienced youth coaches and advocates to bolster the club’s elite youth soccer knowledge to ensure top player and family support & playing options. The U19 team will support a fall session of consistent and flexible training and friendly opportunities with a focus on building into a full spring season of travel and elite local league play.
