TRANSFER WINDOW DEADLINE

Today is the last day of the FIFA transfer window. Normally the window closes on August 31st, but since the 31st fell on a Sunday this year, the window is extended until Monday September 1st.

Last Minute Completed Transfers:

Michael Bradley: Young American midfielder was sold to German side Monchengladbach by Heerenveen yesterday. Bradley had an outstanding season in the Dutch league last year and had been tipped to be making a move to a bigger league. Most expected Bradley to get picked up by a much larger team due to his club and national team form. Everton, Blackburn, and Middlesbrough of the Premier League were rumored to be interested in Bradley. In my opinion Monchengladbach is a good move for a young player. The Bundesliga is a top tier European league but not quite as fast or physical as the premier league. I think Bradley will have an easier time adjusting and get starting minutes sooner rather than later.

Quaresma to Inter Milan from FC Porto

Seol Kim Hyeon to Hull from Fulham

Kevin Doyle to Aston Villa from Reading

Louis Saha to Everton from Manchester United

Pavlychuenko and Corluka to Spurs

Transfers to watch out for:

Sacha Klejstan to FC Twente

Robinho to Chelsea

Dmitir Berbatov to Manchester United or Manchester City (Man City was sold to Adu Dhabi, and they immediatlely made a bid for the striker.)

Huntelaar to Real Madrid, Tottenham, or Arsenal.

COED, WHITE TEAM SCRIMMAGE, BBQ, AND KICKBALL

Thursday night was the FC Denver Premier Coed Championships. The team played hard but ended up losing 2-1. From what i understand the season was kind of a roller coaster ride, so it was nice to see the team put together a solid stretch at the end to make it to the final. Everyone played well, but soccer is a cruel sport sometimes. Luckily the fall season and a whole bunch of soccer is just around the corner.

Thursday night the White Team, led by Chris Lobkovich, played a scrimmage against Sefton FC, just a few fields down from the coed game. Chris informed me that the team played exceptionally well despite losing 3-2. It was their first match together as a team and they dominated a very good Sefton team that has been together for a few years. With a few more matches under their belt this team, along with our Green team, should be challenging for a top of the table finish in the CASL second division.
