Appreciation Series: Peter Bunting

Over the next couple of weeks, in accordance with this time of the year, we would like to recognize those persons that made a difference in the club. Often during the thick of the season, it can be difficult to express our gratitude to those folks who dedicate their time and efforts to making FC Denver the club that it is today.

In our 15 years of existence, we have been fortunate to have committed coaches, important leadership members, and memorable players, but few who have had the impact of Peter Bunting during his two years in our club. Peter was unexpectedly offered a once-in-a-lifetime job opportunity which required him to relocat to North Carolina midway through our fall season. Now that we have time to reflect, we felt it was important to share our appreciation for Peter’s substantial impact on our club.

He was first introduced to our club through Bob Boyle and was involved in a number of groundbreaking moments for our club. From being part of our three-person group to create our U19 Developmental Alternative Program in summer 2018, to playing a massive supporting role in our Open Cup journeys, to helping the club navigate the early days of the Coronavirus pandemic, to being the main architect in melding together players from various Men’s teams into formidable Men’s Fall Championship-contending team; Peter was a difference-maker for FC Denver.

Appreciation for Peter is shared by many. Bob Boyle, who connected Peter with FC Denver stated, “Peter brought his unique perspective on the game, boundless energy, the highest level of professionalism, and a genuine interest in player development to FC Denver. Peter is a class act — I wish him all the best and have full confidence he’ll move many more mountains as he moves into this next phase of life with his family, work, and soccer pursuits.”

Current FC Denver Men’s Head Coach Andy Goellner added, “My first thought about Peter is his vision. He has an amazingly clear vision of where he wants. Second is energy and dedication. It's one thing to have vision, but it is another to dedicate the time and energy necessary to make it happen. He is 100% at all times. Finally, his attention to detail is insane; from player management, to engaging training sessions, to clear communication. Peter’s legacy will be felt at the club and in the community for a long time to come.”

We are thrilled to share the news that Peter will continue to be a difference maker for FC Denver. Peter has accepted a formal executive leadership position to continue apply his passionate personality and astute football knowledge to the benefit of our club.

On behalf of FC Denver, we are appreciative for the legacy Peter has built and we are excited about what we’ll continue to build ahead.
