FALL UNDERWAY: Weekend 1 Result, Weekend 2 Prep

Fall 2020 began this past weekend with our Men’s 1st Team in action. The upcoming weekend will have all of our Fall 2020 squads in action for the first time. Here’s a recap and a look ahead.

WEEK 1 RECAP
FC Denver vs CFL - Aurora
Result: 8-1 Win
Story: Our Men’s 1st Team (Combined Premier and United) had a bunch of new guys playing together and some new faces so was uncertain what game 1 would look like. After a competitive 1st half where we went into the break up 2-1 on a Schmidt goal and a Schmidt assist on a Boyle goal. The shots and possession were decidedly in our favor, but a momentary lapse on a free kick meant the score was close. The game was different in the second half after a CFL player got an early 2nd yellow to get ejected and we scored the 3rd goal to give ourselves some breathing room. Shortly thereafter, another CFL player got a straight red and the floodgates of goals opened. Good start from this hungry new team but bigger games await.

WEEK 2 PREP
FC Denver Women vs NFA Riders
Date/Location: Sunday 08/30/20 - Noon - Lowry Sports Park Turf Field #1
Story: Our Women’s Team returns most of it’s strong Fall 2019 roster including captains Erin Hamrick and Victoria Slattery and has added youthful new faces to keep the squad deep and looking towards the future. A big season awaits in a competitive 6 team Colorado Premier League Women’s division.

FC Denver U23 vs Boulder United - Collective
Date/Location: Sunday 08/30/20 - 4:30pm - Victoria Kickers Field
Story: Our U23 Team is going to be a legitimate force in the Colorado Premier League Elite Division. Returners Captains Malek Abusina and Carlos Martinez and adding our best class of young talent, we expect big things from this team now and in the future.

FC Denver Legends vs Colfax FC
Date/Location: Sunday 08/30/20 - 11:30am - Lowry Grass Field #5
Story: The Legends crew is back for another shot at the CPL O30 crown that has been so close the last few years. Led by a list of verifiable FC Denver legends such as Marco DelPiccolo, Brady Yarletts, and Juan Gonzalez, this team is a talented and fun group of ballers ready to represent.

FC Denver vs Guadalajara - Premier
Date/Location: Sunday 08/30/20 - 2:15pm - Dicks Sporting Goods Park #6
Story: Our Men’s 1st team (1-0-0) had a good start to the season but now will face off against the top competition in the Colorado Super League over the next month. looking forward to the action.
