Open Letter From the President
My name is Eric Ridgeway Fulton and I founded FC Denver 13 years ago (our first match was March 2006). If you don’t know me, I talk about community a lot in my role as club president. I see my job both as chief manager of a burgeoning elite-amateur/semi-pro soccer club and as community organizer of a non-profit community-driven organization. I communicate this dual role to express how important community is to our soccer club. It’s in our DNA.
You play a lot of matches in 26 seasons, you make a lot of memories, and at the end of it, sure, if successful, you develop a reputation for quality soccer, and the joy and accolades of success never hurt, but at the end, the things that stick with you, is the community of people you’ve worked with, battled with, and who have cheered you on along the way.
Throughout our history, our community has mostly been our active players, and the closest ex-players, families, and fans. This is a new era for us as we work to truly become a team of our great city. A club of players and leaders that represents Denver proudly on and off the field. A club for, and by, Denver. That is what our recent announcement of Club Memberships represents. An opportunity for Denver to become an invested member in what we are building. All membership plans (starting at $40) make you a voting member at our club’s annual membership meeting (held this fall). Truly a new option for Denver.
Our first ever Community Kickoff Party this Saturday (5pm-6:45pm at Regal Cafe & Bakery (1141 Syracuse St, Denver, CO 80220)) is our formal introduction to our city. An opportunity for us to communicate who we are, what we care about, and we we want to go together. We’ll have a brief discussion of our history and what we represent in addition to discussing all the new announcements we’ve had this off-season (Women’s team, home matches at Regency Athletic Complex, Season Tickets, and Memberships). No cost to attend, food available from cafe for purchase, and good people. We hope you’ll join us.
Here’s to all the people building connections and in our society.
With Appreciation,
Eric
